"Microsleep at the controls is not uncommon, pilots are fatigued." Alarming survey results
A survey of 7,200 pilots from 32 European countries revealed alarming data about fatigue in aviation. 76.8% experienced micro-sleep while flying, and nearly 39% reported insufficient rest. Only 37.2% admitted to reporting fatigue, with many fearing repercussions from superiors. Over 38% extended their working hours at least once in the past month, and 69.1% believed refusing to extend a flight could lead to negative consequences. The European Pilots Association calls for protective measures for pilots reporting fatigue and better oversight of regulations.
