Billion-dollar bill for Babiš. Former Minister Blažek played a key role in the Diag Human case
Czech-Swiss entrepreneur Josef Šťáva is pursuing over 17 billion crowns in compensation from the Czech government for a failed plasma deal. The dispute, ongoing for thirty years, has seen significant involvement from former Justice Minister Pavel Blažek. The conflict began in the early 1990s when Šťáva's company, Diag Human, was processing blood plasma for the Czech Republic. Despite government efforts to settle, including a proposed agreement worth two billion crowns, the case has dragged on due to various political and legal complications. Currently, Šťáva holds two court rulings mandating payment from the Czech state, leading to potential enforcement actions against Czech assets. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has stated that the government does not recognize the legitimacy of Diag Human's claims, raising concerns among legal experts about the implications for the rule of law.
