A million people lack internships. Especially in the countryside. VZP has found a way to attract doctors there.
The General Health Insurance Company is offering scholarships to young doctors who commit to returning to their rural hometowns after graduation. This initiative aims to address the shortage of practitioners and pediatricians in underpopulated areas, particularly in border regions. The program promises up to half a million crowns for those who agree to work in their hometowns for at least five years. The first scholarships have already been awarded to 83 medical graduates, with a focus on practical doctors, pediatricians, and psychiatrists. The initiative is seen as a positive step towards improving healthcare access in regions with a lack of medical professionals.
