Military career for Prince Gabriel? Non-endowed royals may soon join the army

Members of the royal family without a stipend will soon be allowed to serve in the military, following a unanimous vote in the Chamber, except for Vlaams Belang's opposition. This change, proposed by Defense Minister Theo Francken, aims to modernize the monarchy and opens the door for Prince Gabriel to pursue a military career. Currently, only royals receiving a stipend can serve, but this law will enable those without to join the armed forces. Prince Gabriel has already completed a four-year training at the Royal Military School and is set to continue his military education. Vlaams Belang opposed the bill, arguing against exceptions for royal family members regarding military ranks and placements.
