NRP Mondego military personnel acquitted of state secrecy

Three Navy military personnel accused of violating state secrets regarding the NRP Mondego were acquitted by the court, which deemed the prosecution's case unfounded. The judge stated that there was no evidence that the accused intended to disclose information to the media or jeopardize state security. Although two of the accused created documents using the ship's onboard computer, the court found no proof that they aimed to publicize the ship's technical limitations. Furthermore, the information shared was not classified as confidential. The defense praised the ruling, highlighting the integrity of the decision, while also criticizing the prosecution's approach. Another case involving 13 military personnel who refused a mission related to a Russian ship is still under investigation.
