Every fifth forint goes to Felcsút – this is how state football academies operate

Between 2020 and 2026, the Hungarian state allocated 115 billion HUF to state-supported football academies, with 102.3 billion HUF disbursed by the end of 2025. The Puskás Academy received 23.2 billion HUF, accounting for one-fifth of the total funding. In a special edition of Ziccer, journalist István Kocsmár-Tóth analyzed the allocation of funds with Kele János and Gaál Tamás, discussing the average cost of developing a homegrown player to a professional level, the productivity support received by Ferencváros despite limited youth playtime, and the implications of the "Lex Tóth Alex". The program also addressed oversight of the system, the sustainability of academies with reduced funding, and the Ministry of Interior's response regarding the future of these academies post-2027.
