Minister states that new reference framework for the SNS will be signed in the coming days
The Minister of Health announced that the Global Reference Framework (QGR) for 2027-2029 will be signed soon, allowing the SNS to start the year with aligned management tools. Ana Paula Martins acknowledged the government's responsibility for the delay in publishing the previous QGR for 2026-2028, which outlines strategic and financial guidelines for health units. She emphasized the need for clear rules and accountability to enhance the autonomy of local health units. The minister also addressed misconceptions about rising health expenditures, stating that the SNS is effectively meeting the needs of a growing and diverse population while maintaining stable spending levels. To tackle waiting lists for healthcare services, the government plans to enhance public health capacity and collaborate with the private sector when necessary.
