Health Minister rejects damage to the SNS and announces Global Reference Framework to be finalized in the coming days
The Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, defended the projected deficit for the National Health Service (SNS) as a reflection of estimated funding needs rather than a loss. During a parliamentary hearing, she announced that the Global Reference Framework for 2027-2029 will be formalized soon. Martins clarified that the SNS budget is distinct from the overall Ministry of Health budget, which shows a surplus. She emphasized the need for better management and organization within public services to address operational losses and fraud. The government aims to enhance the public sector while collaborating with private partners to meet healthcare demands. The final vote on the budget proposal is scheduled for November 24.
