Environment Minister: "It pains me to come as a driver"
During a budget debate, Minister of Environment and Energy Maria da Graça Carvalho expressed her discomfort with using a government car, stating she would prefer to hitch a ride. This comment followed criticism from opposition member Patrícia Carvalho regarding fuel taxes. Carvalho had previously advised citizens to adopt car-sharing and other fuel-saving measures. She also announced new support for electric vehicle purchases aimed at low-income individuals and continued funding for general public incentives and microenterprises.
