Agriculture Minister announces support line of 35 million for young farmers
The Minister of Agriculture, José Manuel Fernandes, announced a new support line of 35 million euros aimed at encouraging young farmers to invest in agriculture. This initiative aims to create 200 new farmers and features simplified costs and reduced bureaucracy, particularly regarding water resource licensing and farm transfers. Applications will not require water licensing at the submission stage but will need it upon contract approval. Additionally, there is a separate 330 million euro fund to support 2,000 young farmers, with over 1,500 projects already underway. The minister emphasized the need for generational renewal in agriculture to ensure food security and modernize farming practices.
