Defense Minister targeted by cyber attack

Nuno Melo, the Minister of National Defense, reported a cyber attack on his phone that allowed unauthorized individuals to send messages in his name and redirect communications. He stated that the attack exploited vulnerabilities due to the inability to install software updates on his device. The situation involved the duplication of contacts and the sending of messages via WhatsApp, but was resolved after he changed his phone. An official source indicated that a message sent in his name requested a money transfer, prompting security protocols to be activated after the attack was detected.
