Minister of the Presidency argues that RTP needs a restructuring

The Minister of the Presidency, António Leitão Amaro, stated that RTP requires restructuring to adjust costs and enhance revenue generation without increasing the Audiovisual Contribution. He emphasized the need for a significant overhaul, suggesting that RTP should reassess its fixed public obligations and improve its cost structure. While he acknowledged potential state capital injections, he believes RTP can generate additional revenue through ambition and innovation. A new Board of Directors will be appointed next year to intensify discussions on these changes. The minister also mentioned that funds allocated for voluntary departures will not be used for layoffs but for technology and work resources.
