Minister guarantees that the situation of parishes with funding cuts should be corrected
The Minister of Economy assured that the funding cuts affecting around 210 parishes will be addressed during the discussion of the 2027 State Budget. Manuel Castro Almeida noted that some parishes would receive less funding in 2027 than in 2026, prompting a proposal from the PSD parliamentary group to rectify this issue. The National Association of Parishes (Anafre) expressed dissatisfaction with the budget proposal, highlighting significant cuts for some parishes. The government plans an average funding increase of 8.2%, but distribution varies. Anafre demands full-time status for local officials and other financial adjustments, threatening service closures if their requests are not met by November 4.
