Minister wants "very targeted" fuel support
The Minister of Economy emphasized that public support for companies affected by rising fuel prices should focus on the most dependent sectors to minimize taxpayer impact. Castro Almeida stated that government assistance should be targeted to businesses where fuel costs significantly affect production expenses. He warned that without such support, consumer prices, especially in supermarkets, could rise. The minister argued against blanket support for all companies, as not all are equally impacted by fuel price increases. Additionally, he mentioned that the government is also providing measures for families, such as tax reductions and extraordinary pension supplements, to empower citizens financially.
