MNB case: international arrest warrants requested for two suspects
The Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office has requested international arrest warrants for two suspects in the MNB case involving former central bank governor György Matolcsy. Alongside Matolcsy, four individuals are implicated, with only Matolcsy and his companies' lawyer detained so far. The investigation focuses on the establishment of the Pallas Athéné Foundations in 2014, which received over 266 billion HUF from the central bank's currency gains. Allegations include a sham securities loan agreement aimed at transferring control of the PADME Foundation's assets to individuals close to Matolcsy. The prosecutor's office has sought the detention of all three suspects, with a court decision expected soon.
