Swiss MNE visits Pyongyang to reopen diplomatic office
Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis is visiting North Korea to reopen the Swiss diplomatic office in Pyongyang, closed for six years due to COVID-19. This visit reflects Switzerland's long-standing commitment to peace on the Korean Peninsula. Discussions will focus on resuming bilateral consultations, security issues, and international geopolitical matters. The diplomatic office, operational since October 19, aims to establish a permanent Swiss presence in North Korea and enhance direct contacts with North Korean authorities. Following this visit, Cassis will travel to Seoul to discuss regional tensions related to recent incidents along the inter-Korean border.
