High school mobilization: "The absolute priority is that students can attend classes," says the Minister of National Education, Edouard Geffray
French Education Minister Edouard Geffray emphasized the importance of students returning to school on November 2, despite ongoing protests from student organizations. He highlighted the need for students preparing for the baccalauréat to attend classes, as many have missed weeks of instruction. While some schools faced disruptions, Geffray noted that the situation was largely under control. In Marseille, several schools were blocked by protests, and similar actions were reported in Toulouse. The government has proposed concessions, including the gradual replacement of the Parcoursup system by 2028, additional teaching positions, and increased class size limits. Geffray acknowledged the legitimacy of student demands and promised responses to the most affected schools.
