Mozambique wakes up air services with São Tomé and Príncipe and Guinea-Bissau

Mozambique has signed air service agreements with São Tomé and Príncipe and Guinea-Bissau to enhance connectivity among Portuguese-speaking countries. The agreements aim to facilitate tourism, investment, and the movement of people. Emanuel José Chaves highlighted that these agreements establish operational conditions and legal frameworks for airlines to assess route viability. Currently, Mozambique lacks direct flights to these nations, necessitating layovers in cities like Lisbon or Luanda. The president of Mozambique's Civil Aviation Authority emphasized that improved air connectivity could lower travel costs and enhance mobility. The discussions occurred during a seminar on civil aviation development among CPLP member states in Maputo, focusing on technical cooperation and best practices.
