Coins considers Fidelidade's statements "shameful"
The President of Lisbon's Municipal Chamber criticized the insurance company Fidelidade for its statements regarding compensation for victims of the Glória elevator accident. Carlos Moedas described the comments as shameful and lamentable, expressing discomfort over the insurer's claims that the rapid nature of the accident meant victims did not suffer. Other council members echoed this sentiment, highlighting a lack of empathy and questioning the safety of the elevator. Moedas accused the Socialist Party of politicizing the tragedy, while the vice-president called for prompt action from the insurer. Fidelidade denied refusing compensation and expressed regret for any distress caused by its statements.
