Mother (61) from Hooglede convicted after drugs are found in her diapers during prison visit in Hasselt
A 61-year-old woman from West Flanders was sentenced to 14 months in prison for attempting to smuggle drugs into Hasselt prison. Caught in August, she hid 135 grams of hashish and 50 grams of cannabis in adult diapers during a visit to her son. She claimed to have been threatened by two unknown individuals who pressured her to carry the drugs. Despite her claims, she did not reveal their identities. The woman has a lengthy criminal record and has previously been sentenced to 30 months in prison. The court emphasized the seriousness of her actions, which undermine prison security and rehabilitation efforts.
