Moscow to host 2030 International Weightlifting Championships following lifting of Olympic suspensions

The International Weightlifting Federation announced that Moscow will host the 2030 International Weightlifting Championships, marking the first Olympic event in Russia since the invasion of Ukraine. This follows the IOC's provisional lifting of the Russian Olympic Committee's suspension. The IWF also confirmed that the 2029 World Championships will take place in Ahmedabad, India. Despite Russia's past doping scandals and ongoing conflict, the IOC found the ROC compliant with membership regulations. However, European nations have urged the EU to stop funding sports organizations that allow Russian athletes to compete. Russian athletes must adhere to IOC anti-doping standards to participate internationally.
