MP archives inquiry into boat abandoned for 9 years

The Public Prosecutor's Office has archived the investigation regarding the abandoned sand extraction vessel Plutão on the Douro River due to insufficient evidence of wrongdoing. The complaint was filed by the National Maritime Authority after the deadline for the vessel's removal plan expired. The prosecutor's decision allows for the case to be reopened if new evidence emerges. The vessel has been abandoned for nine years, and the current owner, Sociedade de Extração de Agregados, had previously indicated plans for its recovery. The former owner noted that the vessel ceased operations after 2009 or 2010, following regulatory issues.
