"It is taking revenge for the lost elections." Million Moments is already calling for demonstrations this weekend

The Milion chvilek organization has called for a protest in Prague against the expedited parliamentary discussion regarding the funding transfer of Czech Television and Czech Radio to the state. The protest is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Old Town Square, with a similar event planned in Brno on Saturday. The organization's leader, Mikuláš Minář, claims that the government is retaliating for recent electoral losses by attempting to nationalize public media, which he argues undermines their independence. The proposed government bill would reduce funding for these institutions by approximately 15%, raising concerns about the impact on public service broadcasting. Workers from Czech Television and Czech Radio have announced a strike in response to these developments, while the opposition plans to challenge the government's actions legally.
