Mummies, curses, and mysteries of the past. An extraordinary tomb hidden in the Masurian forests

In the Mazury region, a unique burial chapel of the von Fahrenheid family resembles ancient Egyptian structures. Built in a square plan with a 16-meter pyramid-shaped roof, it houses the remains of several family members, whose natural mummification has sparked intriguing legends. The von Fahrenheid family was influential in East Prussia, linked to Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit, the temperature scale inventor. Over time, dark legends emerged, including tales of disturbed remains and mysterious energies associated with the mausoleum. Some theories suggest its design reflects the Great Pyramid of Giza, possibly linked to Masonic symbolism. Recent conservation efforts have restored the site, allowing public viewing through barred windows.
