Municipalities approve OE2027 with conditions

The National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP) expressed a generally positive view on the 2007 State Budget proposal but emphasized the need for the government to fulfill financial commitments in key areas. ANMP President Pedro Pimpão highlighted the importance of financial support for municipalities facing increased responsibilities, particularly in health and education. He called for continued funding for unfinished projects under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and urged the acceleration of goals related to Portugal 2030. Pimpão also advocated for a 100% funding model for municipal recovery efforts from storm damages and requested a reduction in VAT rates for public lighting and school meals. The ANMP's General Council will meet to finalize its opinion on the 2027 budget proposal.
