Municipalities will have a line of credit to urbanize land

The Minister of Economy announced additional housing measures, including a credit line for municipalities to urbanize land for housing construction. Manuel Castro Almeida emphasized the seriousness of the housing issue, which has accumulated over years and requires time to resolve. He stated that municipalities can expect state support for housing projects, with a credit line being negotiated with the European Investment Bank. The government aims to support the construction of approximately 133,000 homes by 2030, addressing local housing needs identified by municipalities. The 2027 budget proposal includes significant investment in affordable housing and public housing stock, with a projected economic growth of 2.3% this year.
