Before work, after work, and on his day off, a concerned citizen watered the thirsty trees in the summer heat.

In response to summer drought, over 2,200 volunteers participated in the nationwide Volunteer Watering campaign, providing more than one million liters of water to urban trees. The initiative recorded over 33,000 watering sessions, with one dedicated volunteer watering trees over a thousand times. The campaign, which began during a heatwave, expanded this year to include ten districts in Budapest and other cities. Participants used a mobile app to locate trees needing water and track their contributions. The program will return next May, with volunteers involved in planning.
