After 25 years, work on the Regional Express Network in Linkebeek can finally start

Infrabel plans to construct two additional tracks in Linkebeek for the Gewestelijk Express Net (GEN) expansion, pending a permit decision in March 2024. After 25 years of delays, work could commence in 2031, starting with bridge adjustments. The project includes a new bridge on Hollebeekstraat and improvements at Holleken station. The existing train stop in Linkebeek is expected to close in 2028, contingent on new pedestrian and cyclist connections. If all goes well, the four tracks could be operational by late 2034.
