The first snow has appeared on Mount Fuji. This year it happened exceptionally late.

On Mount Fuji, temperatures dropped to -6.3°C, leading to a one-centimeter snow layer. The first snowfall typically occurs on October 2, but this year it was recorded 28 days later, marking the second-latest date in history. The Japan Meteorological Agency has changed its snow measurement method from visual observations to radar data, making direct comparisons with previous years difficult. In Hokkaido, Sapporo recorded its first snow on October 28, five days later than last year, with significant snowfall in Kamikawa. Strong winds have made outdoor conditions challenging, and forecasts predict continued snow in Sapporo for about a week.
