After years of stagnation: work has started for a school, childcare center, and sports hall in Poelkapelle

Construction has begun in Poelkapelle for a new facility that will house a school, after-school care, and a sports hall, with completion expected by mid-2028. The project faced delays due to political disagreements over the location of the after-school care. The new building will allow shared use of spaces and will be available for local associations outside school hours. Currently, students from De Ooievaar school will remain in their existing building until the new one is ready, which is designed for 200 students. The total cost is estimated at 6 million euros, funded by various sources including the municipality and government subsidies. A study will also be conducted regarding the future of the church and other old buildings in the area.
