Brussels Airport invests in additional border control posts due to waiting times that reached up to 5 hours

Brussels Airport is investing in additional border control posts to reduce long waiting times, which have reached up to 5 hours for non-European travelers. The delays are attributed to the new European Entry/Exit System (EES), which has increased processing times significantly. In December, 8 more staffed control posts will be added, bringing the total to 20. Additionally, 60 pre-registration kiosks were installed, but they are not yet operational due to technical issues. The airport is also training more police officers to manage the controls and is advocating for expanded use of e-gates for non-Europeans and a pre-registration app.
