Life expectancy for seniors is increasing. However, they will only spend part of their retirement in good health.

Life expectancy for seniors in the Czech Republic has increased over the past 20 years, with men gaining approximately 2.7 years and women 2.9 years. Last year, life expectancy for 65-year-olds reached 17.1 years for men and 20.8 years for women. However, only a portion of this time is spent in good health, with men enjoying about 46% and women nearly 40% of their life expectancy in good health. The government plans to cap the retirement age at 65, citing shorter healthy life spans. The retirement age has been gradually increasing due to demographic changes, with projections to reach 67 by 2057.
