The slimmest skyscraper in the world looks like a needle. It's hard to believe it actually stands.
Steinway Tower in Manhattan, standing at 435 meters tall and only 18 meters wide, is recognized as the world's thinnest skyscraper. Located on Billionaires' Row, its apartments average over $50,000 per square meter. The building, designed by SHoP Architects, was completed in 2022 and cost around $2 billion. It features 59 luxury apartments, most occupying entire floors, with amenities like a 25-meter pool. Despite high prices, it was the best-selling residential building in New York in 2025, with sales totaling $416.8 million. The tower's unique design required advanced engineering solutions to manage wind effects, including a 730-ton mass damper to reduce swaying.
