Natalia Lartitegui, the cycling traveler who travels alone through Africa by bicycle: "A lady had to sit down when I told her I was coming from Spain"
Natalia Lartitegui, a 26-year-old from Bilbao, has been cycling solo through Africa for a year, documenting her journey on YouTube and Instagram. She has traveled through 13 African countries since leaving Spain in October 2025. Inspired by her family's travel tradition, she began her journey after a knee injury cut short her previous travels in Latin America. Lartitegui emphasizes the intensity and challenges of traveling in Africa, sharing insights about her experiences and the cultural reactions she encounters. She travels light, staying in various accommodations, and has found that being a woman traveling alone can evoke empathy, although she has faced unique challenges on her cycling journey. Currently, she is in Nigeria and plans to continue her travels for several years.
