NBP reveals banks' plans. How will the availability of loans change?
In the fourth quarter of 2026, banks plan to maintain their credit policies, anticipating increased demand for business and consumer loans, while expecting a continued decline in housing loans. The central bank's quarterly survey reveals significant changes in the credit market, with stricter criteria for household loans, particularly consumer loans. Conversely, banks have eased lending criteria for businesses due to rising competitive pressure. There has been a notable increase in demand for business loans, while demand for consumer loans has decreased, and for the first time in three quarters, demand for housing loans has also declined.
