The government's corporate additional revenues do not only come from where most would expect.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar announced an increase in corporate tax rates for large companies, introducing a second 15% rate for those with revenues exceeding 180 billion HUF. This change aims to raise the effective tax burden to around 11%. Despite the low corporate tax rate, overall tax contributions from Hungarian companies are significant, with corporate taxes accounting for 9.5% of GDP, higher than the EU average. The effective tax rate for large firms is influenced by various deductions and exemptions, particularly in R&D. The government is also considering reducing tax incentives to increase revenue. Additionally, an increase in the innovation tax is planned, which primarily affects larger corporations, as smaller businesses are exempt.
