Palestinians seek international assistance due to Israeli operations in Hebron

The Palestinian Authority's foreign ministry has called for international intervention in response to Israeli security forces' actions in occupied West Bank. Measures taken in Hebron, including evacuations and demolitions, are seen as collective punishment. The escalation is said to exacerbate existing tensions without providing security or peace. Following a shooting that killed two Israeli soldiers, Israel announced an anti-terror operation in the region. Approximately 2,000 people have been displaced since the operation began. The military actions coincide with the end of Israel's election campaign, where security and relations with the West Bank are key issues. Right-wing parties are pushing for a tougher stance against Palestinians, while attacks by radical settlers have received little attention during the campaign.
