Nepal is the first country to receive money from the climate disaster fund, but it has little benefit from it
Nepal will receive 18 million euros from a UN fund to aid recovery after devastating floods. This is the first allocation from the climate damage fund, aimed at supporting vulnerable countries affected by climate change. The funds will not be immediately available, as Nepal must submit a formal application. The floods, caused by melting ice and rock in the Himalayas, resulted in significant loss of life and destruction of infrastructure. Experts note that the allocated amount is only a fraction of the estimated 7.4 billion dollars needed for recovery. Despite this, the commitment is seen as a positive step for future climate aid, especially ahead of the upcoming climate summit in Turkey.
