No promotion, no development, no atmosphere. Here’s what really matters to Generation X
A study by Enpulse and SGH surveyed nearly 13,000 respondents from Generation X, focusing on their expectations from employers, career barriers, and retirement plans. Key findings reveal that salary and job stability are the primary factors influencing employer choice, with only 12% prioritizing work-life balance. Many respondents plan to work as long as their health allows, reflecting financial responsibilities such as supporting children and aging parents. The study highlights differences in motivations between private and public sector employees, with public sector workers feeling more exhausted and limited in growth opportunities. Overall, a sense of purpose and team appreciation are crucial for motivation among those aged 45 and older.
