"No" to eternal rulers. The Sejm maintained their two-term limit.
The proposal to abolish the two-term limit for local leaders was rejected in the Polish parliament, with 213 votes in favor and 215 against. The initiative, led by the Polish People's Party (PSL), aimed to allow mayors and local officials to serve indefinitely, arguing that term limits hinder local communities by removing experienced leaders. However, the majority of lawmakers disagreed. Following the defeat, PSL's leader, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, announced plans to push for a similar two-term limit for MPs and senators, emphasizing consistency in governance rules. Supporters of the current two-term limit argue it ensures fresh perspectives and prevents entrenched local power structures.
