Illegal factory, millions of cigarettes, 20 people detained

Authorities dismantled an illegal cigarette factory in the Wołów district, seizing nearly 15 million cigarettes. The operation began with a truck inspection revealing 9.9 million cigarettes without Polish tax stamps. Investigators found an additional 4.7 million cigarettes and over 8.5 tons of tobacco at the site. A total of 20 individuals, including 14 Paraguayans and four Poles, face charges related to organized crime and tax offenses. Prosecutors estimate that the state would have lost over 31 million PLN in unpaid taxes if the products had reached the market.
