Unexpected support for Republicans. A Democrat endorsed their candidate
On November 3, Americans will vote for all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 senators. The Democratic Party currently holds a 8-10 point lead over the Republican Party, suggesting they may secure a majority in the House. In the Senate, the outcome will depend on elections in seven states, including Michigan. Democratic Congresswoman Haley Stevens has endorsed Republican candidate Mike Rogers, distancing herself from her party's nominee, Abdul El-Sayed. Stevens criticized an ad she felt unfairly blamed Israel for high food prices, prompting her support for Rogers. Trump's invitation for Stevens to join the Republican Party followed her endorsement. El-Sayed, who could become the first Muslim senator, expressed that the election is about the people of Michigan, not individual candidates. If Democrats gain a Senate majority, they could block Trump's legislative initiatives and investigate his administration.
