New center for sustainable energy opens in Zelzate: "Children learn to experiment here"
Fabriek Energiek 2.0, a new center in Zelzate, focuses on renewable energy education for youth and families. It replaces the original center and offers workshops and experiments on energy efficiency and sustainability. Children can engage in hands-on activities like testing wind speed and generating energy with a bike. The building is eco-friendly, constructed with sustainable materials and designed to support local wildlife. The old center will be repurposed in the Flemish Ardennes for creative use by individuals with disabilities. Additionally, plans are underway to enhance the surrounding area into a nature reserve by 2030.
