New bike point at Denderleeuw station: "For repairs, but also for more social control"
A new bike point has opened in Denderleeuw's station area, allowing travelers to repair bikes or buy second-hand ones. This initiative, led by the municipality and vzw Stroom, aims to enhance social control in the neighborhood. The bike point is located in a previously vacant building purchased by the municipality to combat urban decay. The project aligns with goals of sustainable mobility and local economic activity, employing around 13 people. The municipality invested €50,000 in renovations, while Stroom vzw contributed €88,000 for setup, totaling €140,000. The bike point will also support local bike couriers.
