New platform in De Liereman Oud-Turnhout is also a shelter for hedgehogs and bats

A new hunting platform has been established in De Liereman nature reserve to manage the growing wild boar population while providing habitats for various species. The 6-meter high structure replaces an older platform and was built with the help of local volunteers and students. Funded by the European rural development program, it aims to support hunters in controlling wild boars that damage nearby farmland. Additionally, a biodiversity tower beneath the platform offers shelter for hedgehogs, bats, and other wildlife, serving as an educational stop for visitors. The project highlights the collaboration between agriculture, hunting, and nature conservation.
