New recycling plant for plastic in Lommel opens after investment of 30 million euros
A new recycling plant by Morssinkhof-Rymoplast has opened in Lommel, with a €30 million investment. The facility processes waste from blue PMD bags into new materials, recycling up to 40,000 tons of plastic annually. It is part of Fost Plus's investment program and aims to increase Belgium's plastic recycling rate from 51% to 70-80% by 2030. The plant uses rainwater for cleaning and plans to expand its operations to produce plastic pellets for market sale. Lommel's mayor highlights the city's role in innovative recycling and supports the focus on a circular economy.
