Night in the middle of the day. In the largest landlocked country in the world, clocks have been permanently set back.
Kazakhstan has implemented a single time zone (UTC+5) across the country, causing dissatisfaction among residents due to extreme daylight hours. The change, effective from March 1, 2024, has led to complaints about disrupted daily rhythms and decreased productivity. Many citizens, especially in the east and the capital, Astana, have reported negative health impacts and increased traffic accidents. Despite a petition with over 50,000 signatures requesting a return to the previous time zone system, the government has rejected calls for change, maintaining the new time zone permanently.
