North Korea denies being behind the Binance hack
North Korea has denied allegations from the U.S. regarding its involvement in the theft of €5.6 billion from Binance. Kim Yo-jong, sister of leader Kim Jong-un, called the accusations absurd and a serious political provocation. The FBI attributed the hack to a North Korean hacker unit, claiming they converted stolen bitcoins into ethereum and may continue laundering the funds. Kim criticized the U.S. for misleading the public about cybercrime, referencing a previous hack linked to North Korea that stole $1.5 billion from ByBit. Binance stated that most of the stolen cryptocurrency has been reimbursed.
