North Americans decide today on Congress control and the direction of the Trump administration
Today, around 210 million American voters decide whether Republicans or Democrats will control Congress during the last two years of Trump's presidency. All 435 House seats and about one-third of the Senate are at stake, along with gubernatorial elections in 36 states. Trump's influence looms large despite his name not being on the ballot, as he has focused the campaign on himself, promising financial incentives to voters. Polls suggest a potential shift towards Democrats, which could hinder Trump's legislative agenda and lead to investigations. Early voting has increased significantly, with over 50 million ballots cast. The new Congress will take office on January 3, 2027.
