North Sea Port processes 1.6 percent more goods despite drought in the 3rd quarter
North Sea Port reported a 1.6% increase in goods handled in the third quarter despite drought-related delays. This marks the strongest quarter in four years. However, inland shipping saw a 2.6% decline due to lower water levels affecting vessel loading. Geopolitical factors, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the war in Ukraine, have impacted operations, with some chemical companies performing well. Grain imports from Ukraine have decreased, leading terminals to source from other regions. Overall, a slight decline of 2.3% in sea freight is expected by year-end, but the port remains satisfied with the results.
